The Poconos
Mauch Chunk Lake Park

This is a great park for Poconos hiking, because there are several truly amazing trails within its borders. One trail, however, is popular with school groups so if you want a peaceful solitude, don't go there. It's the Shoreline trail, but it is actually a very good trail if you want to learn about or see a wide variety of plants and animals that tare representative of the Poconos.

In addition to superb trails, Mauch Chunk Lake Park has facilities and activities for Poconos campers and for day users of the park. You can hike, as mentioned, or you can go boating, swimming, fishing. They have volleyball nets so get your team together. Ever played horseshoes? You can do that here, too. In winter, you can use the beautiful trails for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

The Campground is open Spring through Fall...you have to be pretty hearty to want to camp in the Poconos in wintertime anyway! If you want to camp at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, make a reservation because you never know, the campground could be full when you want to take your camping vacation.

Mauch Chunk Lake Park is on Lentz Trail Highway between the towns of Jim Thorpe and Summit Hill. It covers 2,300 acres in the Poconos. Campers may have visitors from 10am to 10pm. After 10pm there is quiet hours until morning.
